Lipstick 101
When it comes to lipstick there seems
to be almost too much variety. What shade? Glossy or matte? It can
start to be a little overwhelming, but a few tips will help sort it
all out.
The first concept that you want to consider is what will match your
skin tone. For example, you don't want to wear an icy pink if you are
very fair skinned; it will make you look washed out. Use your lipstick
shade to enhance, not detract from the rest of your face. Light pinks,
light purples, and light nudes are great for you ladies with dark
complexions. Medium shades are good for the ladies with either tan or
fair skin.
Next you should consider what look you want to portray. If you want a
professional look, stick with lipstick shades that go great with your
skin tone and are rather subdued. You definitely want to use matte
shades with business attire. Trying more for that sexy smolder? Use a
drastic, bold shade that has a nice glossy sheen. For example, a very
cherry red or a dark purple would work. Looking for casual? Try breezy
colors like nudes, light pinks, or ditch the lipstick all together and
go with a slightly tinted gloss.
Lastly consider whether you want your lips to be center stage. If yes,
use a long lasting glossy lipstick. If you would rather your eyes get
more attention, use a matte lipstick.
Find that set of perfect "You" shades. You'll impress every
time.
