A Healthy, Daily Skin Care Routine

Taking care of your skin properly should be the basis of any beauty regime. A clear and healthy complexion keeps you looking younger and provides an excellent foundation on which to apply your makeup. A good skincare regime involves three simple steps that you should follow daily. The entire process should take no longer than 20 minutes, and should become an easy habit to adopt. For maximum effectiveness, your skin care routine should be done twice a day - in the morning when you first awake and at night before you go to sleep.

Step 1: Cleansing
The key is to find a simple cleanser that works well for your skin type. Cleansing is important because it removes the dirt, grime, and bacteria from your pores, and prevents clogs that cause acne or blackheads. Try to avoid using bar soap as it can excessively dry out your skin. The best is to find a cream or gel based soap that works with your skin type.

Step 2: Toner
Toners not only help to remove every last dirt from your pores, but it also invigorates and "tones" up your skin, making it seem more vibrant and youthful. Like your cleanser, you should use a toner that suits your skin type.

Step 3: Moisturize
This is perhaps the most important step in your skin care routine. Even oily skin needs to be moisturized in order to restore the skin's hydration and to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Find a moisturizer that suits your skin type, and make sure that it also contains UV protection. The sun can tremendously age and damage your skin. At night, be sure to use a deeper moisturizer with retinol, and also apply eye moisturizer to protect the delicate skin around your eyes.
